INTRODUCTION: When I compaigned for office, I promised to keep in close touch with constituents-- of whom YOU are one-- to learn how I can better represent them. I am working hard to keep this promise. Some of my efforts to keep in touch with constituents include: QUESTIONNAIRE:
The results of the 2006 survey (673 individual responses) are posted on another Web page (2006). In early 2007, I will post a new questionnaire on another Web page (2007).
ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER: I send FREE weekly updates of recent and pending legislation in the Tennessee General Assembly to persons requesting the e-newsletter. Some area newspapers re-print this e-newsletters, in whole or in part. I post some electronic newsletters on another

COMMUNITY MEETINGS: I will happily speak at any meeting of your community or civic club, church,* or school. (*When I speak at a church, I respect the church's mission. I never talk about anything partisan or anything which would jeopardize the church's non-profit standing with the IRS. I usually speak about two interests of mine-- end-time prophecy or a Christian's responsibilities in a secular world.) Please invite me, if your group would like to hear about or provide input into legislative matters. For more information: Call toll-free 1.800.449.8366, extension 12427.
RADIO SHOW: When the Legislature is in session, I provide a 30-minute recap of the week's proceedings on Blount County radio station WBCR Truth Radio (AM 1470), each Friday morning, beginning at 7:30 am.
NEWSPAPER COLUMN: When the Legislature is in session, I write a weekly newspaper column to inform readers of important events in the General Assembly.
WEBSITES: I maintain four Websites:

FOURTH FRIDAY WITH SENATOR FINNEY: I meet with interested constituents on the fourth Friday of the month, unless a major holiday is near this date or I must attend a meeting in Nashville. This outreach permits a constituent who wishes to discuss an issue with me, but who cannot travel to my Nashville office, to meet with me at his or her country courthouse. Scheduled meetings are:
NOTE: Meetings in 2006 will not be held in August (mandatory meeting in Nashville on this date), November (conflict with Thanksgiving season), and December (conflict with Christmas season).
SCHOOL PROGRAMS: I meet with schoolchildren in every school in which I receive an invitation. A typical meeting is with fourth-grade students (because state government is included in the fourth-grade curriculum). I explain the jurisdictions and branches of government; hold a mock legislative session in which "student senators" present, debate, and vote on a "bill" of interest to children; stress the importance of voting and education; answer questions; and appoint each student as a "special assistant on my honorary staff" to be part of government by helping in the school, home, community and by studying hard to prepare for the future. Meeting with these boys and girls is the very best part of my job! These school programs include:

STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN GOVERNMENT: I offer Blount and Sevier County students two opportunities to learn more about the operation of state government by firsthand observation of the Tennessee Senate. These two programs are:
My office would arrange a tour of the Capitol Building for any student and his or her family and would provide other opportunities to learn more about the operatiopn of my office and state government.
