Watch (either live or by archival storage) committee and floor sessions of the Tennessee Senate.
BE BETTER INFORMED ABOUT YOUR GOVERNMENT AT WORK.
The Tennessee Senate is striving to keep you fully informed about all official business it conducts. The Tennessee government is your government, and should exist solely to serve you. Know what is happening in Nashville.
You have two options:
LIVE OPTION: You may watch committee meetings or floor sessions live.
The General Assembly re-convenes on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, and our first session will commence at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time (EST) on that date. We typically meet for sessions on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time (EST or EDT), Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time (EST or EDT), and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time (EST or EDT). This schedule is subject to change, but schedules are always announced and published. There is never an attempt to avoid public scrutiny by changing meeting times. You may call my office (1.800.449.8366, extension 12427), if you need assistance in finding the next week's schedule. Committee meetings are held sometimes on Mondays and Thursdays, but mostly throughout the day on Tuesdays and the morning and early afternoon of Wednesdays.
ARCHIVE OPTION: You may watch past committee meetings or floor sessions through archives.
Follow this procedure to observe state Senate activities:
FIRST STEP: Click on this link to access the General Assembly's Website.
SECOND STEP: In the page that opens, see a menu on the left hand side. Click on the second heading, "Senate."
THIRD STEP: In the page that opens, see a menu on the left hand side. Under the second heading, "Senate," click on the prompt, "Video Streaming."
FOURTH STEP: In the page that opens, see various options. Click on links to watch floor sessions or committee meetings, whether live or in archives. Note that the archives includes sessions as far back as 2005. The option listed as "2006 1st Extraordinary Session" is the very lengthy, tedious session we held as we considered the ethics legislation. Put on the coffee pot, if you try to wade through this nearly month-long session.
I hope the General Assembly's attempt to bring state government into schools and homes throughout Tennessee will help interested citizens become better informed about our government.
